KV Sangathan to inspect schools with low pass %

Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in the country which had performed poorly in the 10th and 12th CBSE board exams in 2009 will soon be taken to task. Seeking accountability for the poor performance in board exams of certain KV schools, the KV Sangathan (the governing body for the 981 KV schools in the country) is sending inspection teams to assess the causes and decide on counteractive measures.

After assessing the performance of schools in the 10th and 12th board exams, 31 schools have been identified. Inspection teams from the KV headquarters are slated to visit these schools soon to help identify and understand factors responsible for the poor pass percentage and find ways to sort out problems at these institutions.

There are 47 KV schools in the state, most of which performed well in the 10th and 12th board exams. The exception was KV Bijapur, which has a pass percentage below 60 percent in the 12th board exams. The other schools identified are from regions like Guwahati, Jammu, Kolkata, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The inspections of all 31 schools are expected to be completed by mid-September. The inspection team will take into account multiple aspects from results of students to the facilities on campus.
