Inquiry against ‘cheating’ professors in Mumbai

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has ordered an inquiry on teachers that helped students cheat or copy during the class X and XII board exams. Centres from where more than five students have been caught will not be spared.

Even though this year, the board had laid down a policy to stop malpractices in exams, many students were caught copying on the first day itself. “We have already started inquiries on students but now will start an inquiry on centre authorities and teachers who helped the students in any way, either by turning a blind eye to copying or by allowing students to carry chits will come under scrutiny,” said RR Bhise, secretary of Mumbai division.

Bhise added that if the teachers and centres were found guilty after the inquiry, they will not be let off without strict penalties.
Further according to S Dhekne, secretary of the board, inquiries have been started against the students that have been caught cheating since the first day of the exams.

A police case will be lodged against some such students, while others will not be permitted to sit for their exams.
