IIMA students to seek ideas from locals to solve civic problems
‘What an idea, sirjee!'…That is what IIMA students might say and welcome you if you come up with a bright idea.

Celebrating the true spirit of entrepreneurship, the students of the premier management institute is calling out to all the innovative minds in the city for solutions to the city's civic problems. The best ideas will be awarded total prize money of upto Rs2 lakh and certificates by the business school.

The competition which is part of a two-day summit called 'Dream Big India 2010'that begins on January 12 is organised by the Entre Club of IIMA.

The competition calls for local residents of Ahmedabad who think they have a solution for the civic problems in Ahmedabad city and incubates them to implement their ideas.

Talking about the event, Anirban Taraftar, a student said, "Entre Club has been constantly encouraging entrepreneurs at various levels. Through this event we will get an opportunity to reach out to the people in the city. People can come together with innovative ideas and move ahead for a larger cause."

The event aims to recognise change-agents working in various spheres including economic, social, cultural and political spheres with equal fervor. Referring to the event, faculty advisor of the event Anil Gupta said, "Dream Big India aspires to become a campus recruitment event for entrepreneurs."

The summit will also hold other events which will bring to limelight various innovators and unsung heroes in our localities. A Film Festival called 'I am the Change' will showcase short films of everyday heroes who live in our neighbourhood but who aren't recognised by us for their selfless service.

In another event called 'Srijan', the participants will be given ten grassroots innovations from NIF. The team with the best business idea for the innovations given to them will be
given cash prizes.
