IIMA Chaos to rock city today

Chaos, the annual cultural festival of IIMA that has been eagerly awaited by a large number of fans, is set to kick-start on Thursday.

Students behind the scenes claim that the festival will be bigger and better than those of previous years. With 3000 fans already following it on social networking websites, the numbers are likely to increase further once events such as dance and drama, fashion shows and rock bands hit the IIMA campus.

Spread over four days, Chaos has some well-known faces and most sought after performers to look forward to. While on January 20, the opening ceremony will be followed by a soothing musical night by ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, January 21 will see Urgeworks, a not-for-profit organization that grew out of the performing and educational activities of HaviKoro break dancers, putting up a dance performance. The group brings a positive message to youngsters around the world through break dance, rap and other dance forms.

The rock night will be on January 22 where rock bands like Kryptos and American rock band, Led Zepplica promise to take rock lovers to a new high. The rock night will be followed by a DJ night on the same day with a foot-tapping performance by DJ Akbar Sami. The last day i.e. January 23 will have danseuse and actor Isha Sharvani performing with her troupe and singing sensation KK presenting his groovy numbers.

According to IIMA media cell secretary, Glen D'Silva, "This year being our institution's 50th year we wanted not just familiar faces, but faces who are favourites of audiences. With an international band like Led Zepplica performing here, the festival surely gets better, as rock has been the favorite music for most of the IIMA community members."

Other highlights of Chaos include the Blizzards of Rock where the best rock bands from across the country will battle it out for the title. Makrand Deshpande's play, Salsa dance workshop, street dance competition, chocolate and mocktail making workshops and 'Epicenter'- the first ever LAN Gaming event in the history of IIMA Chaos, also find a place in the festival.
