IIM Ahmedabad summer placement to start from November 11

As the placement season is approaching fast, the fear of recession in the USA and European market seems to affect the mood at most B-schools. But at IIMA, the students and faculty are optimistic about good offers and are gearing up for the summer placement to begin from November 11.

To woo the best of the recruiters, IIMA has announced the plans for the summer placements for the 20010-2012 batch. IIMA placement cell chairman Prof Saral Mukherjee says as of now they are not witnessing any negative impact or decrease in number of offers.

"Going by the number of pre-placement offers and talks, I must say that there is no change in it. Like last year, we are receiving equally good offers," he said.

Mukherjee, however, believes that the impact of economic turmoil will be visible only at the time of summer placement. "If there is any negative impact, summer placement will see decrease in offers from recruiters or in number of recruiters," said Mukherjee.
IIMA director Prof Samir Barua, when reached for his comments, said if the situation continued to be the same in the US and Europe, India would not be immune to its impact and the placement season in 2012 would be effected
