GSHSEB misses six city toppers’ name

GSHSEB misses six city toppers’ name

In a glaring error, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) missed printing the names of six students qualified to be on the list of Ahmedabad district's top ten. However, the board rectified the error after media persons brought the issue to the notice of Hasmukh Adhia, principal Secretary of the state education department.

Adhia asked board officials to cross check about the missing names with the results-making agency. It was found that the names of six students were genuinely missing from Ahmedabad's top ten merit list.

The principal secretary clarified then, that while the practice of declaring two separate lists for 'Ahmedabad city' and 'Ahmedabad rural' was discontinued since last year, the agency was not informed of the same. Because of that, it didn't consider these six students belonging to schools in the Ahmedabad rural area. By this time though, the schools had raised a hue and cry about their students not being mentioned as city rankers.

Akash Shah of Sheth Nanubhai Vidyamandir of Nava Naroda stood fifth in the city with 95.08%, with a score of 618 marks out of 650.

Yash Patel of the HBK New High School, Memnagar, stood sixth, and Kadam Patel and Nirav Patel from the same school secured the 9th rank in the city.

Dhruv Patel from Pramukh Swami Vidyalay of Sarangpur secured the 8th rank at the district level with 94.62% and 615 marks out of 650. Urvashi Patel of Kameshwar School in Jodhpur secured the 10th rank in Ahmedabad district with 94.31%, with 613 marks out of 650.
