Results of class X and XII Science and Commerce was declared on Tuesday. Most Ahmedabad schools have produced 100% result.

Girls outshine boys in ICSE examinations

Girls outshone boys in the Indian Certificate for Secondary Education (ICSE) Board result which were declared on Tuesday. Both class X and XII results were declared.

Majority of the ICSE board schools of the city achieved 100% result.

The examinations were conducted by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

Convenor of ICSE schools for Ahmedabad, Dr G Emmanuel said, “Most of the ICSE schools in urban areas have produced 100% result. At least no school has produced less than 95% result. This has been possible due to the student-friendly syllabus. However, in rural areas, due to English language, students have not fared well and because of this the overall result of ICSE schools in rural areas will be lower than those in urban areas.”

The city currently has  14 ICSE board schools, of which majority of them have produced 100% result.

Principal of Zydus School, Dr Heena said the topper from her school is a girl.  “Saumya Sisoudiya and Trisha Zaveri have secured first and second positions respectively in class XII Science, whereas in class XII Commerce, Jheel has topped the school.”

Deepa Arora, principal of JG International School said, “From our school, Jagruti has topped class XII commerce with 93%, while in class X, Janki has topped with 91.4%.”

98.99% of girls in the country have cleared class X, as against 98.47% boys. The percentage of girls who cleared the class XII in India was 98.55% as against the boys’  98.26%.

A total of 57,487 students appeared for class XII examination, while 1,22,347 students appeared for class X exam.
