Get set for oral calculation contest
Are you a school student and good at oral calculations? Then the world oral calculation competition, the first event of its kind, is the place to be for you. The competition has been conceptualised by New Delhi-based Magical Methods Foundation, which is working to promote vedic mathematics. "Oral calculation sharpens analytical ability and has positive impact on children. This needs to be encouraged, especially in today's age of computers. The main aim of the competition is to promote oral calculation among children," Pradeep Kumar, founder of Magical Methods Foundation, said.
The competition is also aimed at spreading vedic mathematics, its concept and its application throughout the country and world, Kumar said.

Jimmy Vaidya, proprietor of Magical Methods Foundation's Surat branch said, they are aiming for 30,000 students from Surat to take part in the competition.

"The competition will be held at the school level on August 25. The winners will proceed to zonal level which will take place in September or October. The final of the world oral calculation competition will be held in New Delhi from November 19 and 22," he said. School children from more than 50 Indian cities, besides Dubai, Muscat, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kathmandu, Karachi, Sydney, London, Cape Town, California, Toronto, and others will take part in the event.

The funds generated by the competition will be used to establish a Science Park and Maths Museum in New Delhi, Vaidya said. According to the foundation, vedic mathematics helps a person to solve mathematical problems 10 - 15 times faster. It reduces burden and also helps in improving concentration.
