Get ready for a science party at Indian Institute of Science

Get ready for a scientific treat by the country's top research school, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, on Friday. After 12 years, the IISc will re-open the lab doors to schools, colleges and the general public to display the various research works from 9 am to 5 pm.

Henceforth, the IISc will be conducting similar programmes annually.

“The event is not only to celebrate the National Science Day, but also the centenary completion of the IISc in 2008. We are taking this opportunity to generate interest among the public in science and research. We have stretched the boundaries of human understanding and achievement in the fields of science and engineering, which are going to be showcased,” V Thilagam, public relations officer of IISc, said.

All the 43 departments and divisions of the institute will be holding interactive sessions on research activities, and facilities at the various departments. They will also hold exhibitions on the achievements recorded till date. Visitors will be entertained with poster sessions, science quizzes and fun games based on scientific themes.
