For uniformity, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan take to e-learning

Faced with a severe crunch of teachers, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) in a bid to maintain uniformity across its institutions has come up with e-learning software through which teachers and students can share lesson plans, presentations, and notes. The software connects 850 schools across India, including 48 such schools across the city.

Named Continous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), the e-learning software will require teachers to plan their lesson plans packed with various activities. Only recently, the KVS completed uploading lesson plans for master topics from classes I to XII on its teaching and learning tool launched last year. Teachers can now download the lesson plans and update them as well, while the students can access them to get a preview of the syllabus.

Deputy Commissioner of KVS Mumbai region,  PRL Gupta said the project was started to stem the need for any private firm in preparing the KVS lesson plans. Stating that the teacher knows best how to teach her students, Gupta said, “Post-CCE launch, several private firms offered to design our lesson plans, but we would rather have our teachers employ their creativity and understanding instead of outsiders.”

Considering that sharing of lesson plans across the country will help standardise education quality, Gupta said, “The workload of preparing the lesson plans has been divided equally among all the teachers.”

The Sanghathan is also in the midst of creating an e-library.
