Earn while you learn for Khalsa students

The students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Matunga will get a chance to work part-time with corporations while simultaneously studying for their degree.

After the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) gave the nod for colleges to run in shifts, the Sikh minority college has plans to hold classes in the evening so that students can work in the morning.

With a view to help students in getting sufficient work experience before graduating, the college plans to begin an evening college. “Students find it hard to get a job immediately after graduating from college as they do not have enough work experience. This way they will be able to start their careers early,” said Ajit Singh, director of the college.

The students will be expected to seek jobs only within their respective streams. The evening college will be open to students of commerce, Bachelor of Mass Media, Bachelors of Management Studies and Information Technology and few courses under the science stream.

“This will help them in deciding what kind of work suits them, whether they have made the right career choice or if they would want to work in other fields,” he said.

“We have many placement offers from renowned companies for post graduate as well as under graduate students,” added Singh.
