The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, is all set to kickstart its annual business summit, Confluence-2011, on November 25. During the three-day event that will conclude on November 27, expert speakers will share their thoughts with students on business leadership and excellence combining entrepreneurship, consulting and corporate experience, states the official communiqué from the institute.

The confluence will also include competitions where the best brains from the student community across the country will compete in events in marketing, finance, strategy and agri-business. While it will continue with its flagship events - Masterplan, Mousetrap, Bizzquizitive and Corporate Combat, new events such as the TSMG - Strategy Quotient, TAS Altius, Oil Barons and a Model United Nations will be introduced this year.

Speakers on the first day include GV Ravi Shankar, MD of Sequoia capital, N Thiruambalam, MD of Heinz India, Kaushik Chatterjee, CFO of Tata Steel, Renny Thomas, partner of McKinsey and Vishal Mehta, founder of Infibeam. Managing director of Google India Rajan Anand will also speak at the event.

Besides, a talk and a focused session on entrepreneurship in e-retail will also be included. The session will focus on increasing opportunities in this fast growing sector and will aim at engaging the interest of students to take up entrepreneurship in this area.

Justice CK Thakkar, former Supreme Court judge, JM Lyngdoh, former chief election commissioner and wing commander Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space, will share their ideas on the last day of the confluence.

“The events have attracted a combined registration of more than 10,000 people till now. We have also tried new event formats like GameON, where participants will test their strategy acumen on ordinary board games, and Gold-Rated, which is a one-of-its kind operations simulation event,” said coordinator for the event Mohammad Salman Sunny.
