Commerce topper in II PUC makes Puttur proud

This small town of Havyaka Brahmins and areca planters is now basking in the glory of the achievement of one of its daughters, Ananya G Bhat of St Philomena College who has emerged as the topper in commerce stream in II PUC by scoring 592 marks.
Hailing from Jalsoor in Sullia taluk, Ananya’s father, Ganapathy Bhat, is an arecanut farmer.

Ananya said she was expecting to top the college. “I had done well in the examination. I had not  squandered even a minute in the examination hall and had attempted all questions, particularly in Economics and Accountancy. But somewhere in the corner of my mind, I did nurse the dream of becoming the topper. By god’s grace and the unstinting support of my parents, I could really make it to the top,” said Ananya.

The girl said she will continue her higher studies and her next target is to emulate her own PUC performance in BCom.

Ganapathy Bhat and his wife Aruna are also on cloud nine because of their daughter’s performance. “We kept telling her that she was capable of something big. This is now a reality,” they said.
