Collegians to fight eve teasing
City students will come to the rescue of women who are harassed by eve teasers during the festive season. Collegians are planning to form a squad and patrol the streets from Marine Drive to Juhu to catch culprits and hand them over to the cops.

With the help of an NGO, VidYuth, students from colleges such as St Xavier's, Sydenham, Jai Hind, Sophia, Rizvi Engineering College etc are volunteering to be part of the drive.  While not many organisations are dedicated to the cause of prevention of eve teasing apart from Blank Noise, college students are eager to chip in and make a difference.

“I am sure every girl in the city has been eve teased at one point or another and this is my chance to teach the culprits a lesson,” says Divya Prasad, a student of Ruia College, who’s planning to volunteer for the cause along with friends.

The  volunteers will form squads and monitor areas around discotheques, clubs, tourist spots etc from 7.30pm to 1am. “If they catch the perpetrator, they will take him to the police. Most of the time, women hesitate to register  complaints due to hassles involved, but the students will ensure otherwise,” said Anshuman Sinha, founder of VidYuth.
