City institute signs MoU with Bhutan
The Bangalore-based Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) recently extended its 10-year association with the government of Bhutan by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to welcome Bhutanese students for five more years. The move comes in the wake of Bhutan being satisfied with the quality of education provided by DSI Colleges to previous batches of Bhutanese students.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Programme Officer of Bhutan Tshering Tenzing said his government was pleased with "the successful outcome of a great relationship" and wanted to take it to a higher level for its human resource capacity development to support various sectors of socio-economic development.

Dr D Hemachandra Sagar, DSI chairman, who was present on the occasion, said the institutions had effected the graduation of several hundreds of students through concessional fees and a scholarship, and currently has 60 students from Bhutan on its rolls.

Dr Sagar said DSI has demonstrated to the world that India is now in a position to reverse the trend of Indian students going to overseas universities for professional education and also increase its market share of inducting more international students into its colleges. This can be done through “new innovations in the academic programmes” and creation of a pro-educational ambience in its campuses.
