MGI to start UK recognised mgmt programmes
The Mulshi Group of Institutes (MGI), Pune, is starting an undergraduate (UG) and a postgraduate (PG)-level management programme in association with UK-based Resource Development International (RDI), Institute of Business and Management (IBAM), Edexcel and University of Wales (UoW)-Trinity St David.

During a recently held press meet, founder-director, MGI, Saroj Asthana said that the UG programme, higher national diploma (HND) in business is equivalent to UoW BA (Hons) and the PG programme, extended diploma in strategic management and leadership (EDSML), is equivalent to UoW MBA programme at IBAM. These two programmes will be available at MGI with training, support and certification identical to UK campus. Open for admission in July, October, January and April per year, Asthana said that each batch will be limited to 30 seats only. This programme will lead to final degree, which is validated by the UoW-Trinity St David.

Eligibility for HND in business is standard XII and IELTS score of 6.5, before the student goes to the UK. The programme will be conducted for 14 months on Mulshi campus and 9 months in the UK. Similarly, EDSML requires candidate to be a graduate from any recognised university and IELTS score of 6.5, before the student heads to the UK. This programme will be conducted
for 10 months on Mulshi campus and 6 months in the UK.

Symbiosis International launches CRCDM programme
The Symbiosis International University (SIU) is launching a postgraduate diploma in clinical research and clinical data management (PGD-CRCDM) programme in collaboration with Bioinnovat Research Services from December 2011. This course of one-year duration will be conducted on weekends. The main objective of the programme is to contribute to professional skill development in the area of clinical research, biopharmaceutical drug development, pharmaceutical and other allied areas.

Digital technology solution for schools unveiled
A revolutionary digital class transformation system for schools was unveiled by Educomp Solutions at a seminar held recently at Hotel Le Meridien in the city. Organised in association with Intel, the seminar introduced the delegates to ‘Educomp Smartclass’ programme called class transformation system (CTS), through a live 3D showcase of the technology.

Principals and teachers from schools across the city attended the seminar where they were given a glimpse of how classrooms of the future will look and the latest trends in the education field. Innovated to changed the way teachers teach and students learn, Smartclass CTS is a pedagogically comprehensive digital technology solution to help the Indian classrooms.
It has animations, simulations, mind maps, worksheets, web links, diagram maker, graphic organisers, assessment tools and many other resources to help teachers reach out to every student and ensure their participation.

SIU to collaborate with NTU, Singapore
The Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, on November 25 in an event held on the SIU Lavale campus. This move is to foster close ties between the two universities. This will also help to collaborate in the area of student and faculty exchange along with joint academic and research programmes.

The two universities initially aim to partner on joint research in the areas of biomedical sciences and computer engineering and later extend it to other disciplines.

The partnership will be with an objective to increase student exchange programmes, twinning programmes, joint industry projects with industry, joint research programmes leading to a PhD and integrated PhD programmes.

Inter-college festival ‘CREO’ at FLAME
The Foundation for Liberal and Management Education (FLAME), Pune, will be hosting its first ever inter-collegiate festival ‘CREO’ for collegians across the country. The two-day festival will be held on December 10 and 11 with 50 colleges participating. The fest will host events in the fields of literary arts, fine arts, performing arts, management and fashion show. There will also be workshops on ethical hacking and sculpture. Performance by rock band ‘Agnee’ during the festival will be one of the major attractions of the festival.
