C-MAT or GCET? Students in a dilemma

Choice of examination for thousand of students aspiring to secure admission in best of MBA colleges in state, hangs in uncertainty.

The million dollar question in their minds over their career is that whether the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will give admission to students who clear the Common Management Admission Test (C-MAT) or Gujarat Common Admission Test (GCET).

Even when the Gujarat education department has announced that this year they will continue with the GCET exam for admission to MBA courses, there are other students who will appear for CMAT, the first national-level common test to be held by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in June. The AICTE has made it voluntary for states to join the CMAT this year.

Sources in the GTU claims that a meeting between the varsity's higher authorities and AICTE decided that admission will be given to students who clear the GCET this year. This, therefore, puts a question mark on those students' future who chose to appear only for CMAT. "All students will not be able to take admission in MBA colleges in the state. This ambiguity will further harass students and so the varsity should take the decision soon," said the source.
