BSE institute will offer 2-year MBA in financial markets

Now students aspiring to enter the stock market will have a special course for them.

The Bombay Stock Exchange Training Institute Limited (BTIL), in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), will be offering a two-year MBA in financial markets, a full-time degree. It is the first of its kind course offered by BSE.

Director of BTIL, Ambarish Datta, said, “The curriculum for this course is being designed by the expert committee at IGNOU, which consists of deans and professors from several premier institutes in the city. The curriculum is vast and covers several aspects of financial markets, such as the securities law, corporate governance, etc.” The fee for the two-year programme is Rs4 lakh.

In the first academic year, admissions will be initially based on the CAT scores. “We will also have our own written tests followed by a group discussion and personal interview. We plan to have an intake of 60-100 students in the first year and will increase it in future. The faculty will be from the pool of 110 industry members who are already part of our institute,” Datta said.

Students will get live experience on how the stock market functions, as lectures will be conducted in the BSE building itself. For mock trading, BSE also has simulation labs in the institute.

Students undergoing the programme will also be assured of good placements, claimed Datta.
