3 young artists use brush for a good cause

Three budding artists Ishan Kshirsagar, Shweta Barate and Renuka Fulsounder, who graduated from Pune-based art school, Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, are holding an exhibition of their works to support the ‘Right to education’ campaign for every child.
Driven by a sense of responsibility, the three artists are trying to make a difference through their art exhibit. The exhibition, ‘Nature Hues’, will be held from April 11 to 17 at the Darpan Art Gallery, Patrakarnagar.

“An artist plays a vital role in the development of society so it is our duty to do something for the people,” said Kshirsagar, who has been actively involved in various social activities through NGOs in the city.

The ‘Every Child Counts’ (ECC) is an NGO that strives to provide primary education to underprivileged children, according to Kshirsagar.

“They needed support so we pitched in with the idea of exhibiting our artworks and support the cause from the revenue we collect from the exhibition. Every sale shall contribute 10% amount towards the initiative. Such initiatives will help in building a progressive society and we can dream of a better India tomorrow,” he said.

Showcasing her works for the first time along with her peers, Renuka Fulsounder, said, “Being brought up in a family that has always donated to the needy on many occasions has developed in me the sense of helping the poor.”

Like Kshirsagar and Fulsounder, Barate has also done her diploma in painting and has worked for a few social causes.

Talking on what inspired them to choose nature as the theme for their exhibition, Barate said, “We are inspired by the essence of nature. Apart from the rich colours, the deep peace that one experiences while reconnecting with nature is irreplaceable by the material world. The word ‘hue’ means ‘shade’ and we have painted various shades of nature using our imagination and hence we decided to call our show Nature Hues.”

She further added that most of the paintings were done at actual natural locations. “The mediums vary but prominently they are acrylics and watercolours. All paintings reflect the inspiration taken from nature and go beyond the artistic delights,” Barate said.

After finishing the diploma last year, the three artists came together for this noble cause. Their efforts are in line with the recently implemented Right To Education (RTE) Act and the campaign is currently being carried out across the city at all levels by citizens.
