22 firms visit IIM-Ahmedabad in third cluster

Around 22 firms from different industries made offers to students of Post Graduate Program (PGP) 2009-2011 on Saturday as the third cluster of the final placements at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) began.

The third cluster of placements saw group discussion and interviews on Friday and Saturday respectively. Official communiqué from the IIM-A said that the cluster of companies were from Indian marketing, financial services and advisory sectors.

Around 22 firms from a variety of industries like telecom, FMCG, energy and electronics participated in the third cluster, the communiqué said.

Firms like Airtel, Axis Bank, Ernst & Young, Aircel and RPG offered roles in sales and marketing, banking, advisory and general management.

Apart from these, niche roles in infrastructure financing and e-commerce were also offered. Eleven students of IIM-A will be joining financial services firm Yes Bank  this year. It also remained the largest recruiter in terms of number of offers accepted on Saturday. 

Movin Jain, student placement secretary said that this year the objective was to provide wider opportunities to students. "Due to an upbeat market and changes in the placement process, we are in a better position to achieve this goal," Jain said.

The fourth cluster will be held on March 4, 2011.

Last year, in the third cluster of Indian banking services, financial advisory services, credit rating agencies and sales and marketing around 78 jobs were offered. Of which around 65 offers were accepted.
