15 GNLU graduates bag Rs14 lakh pay package

For the first time, Gujarat National Law University's (GNLU) internship and placement cell aggressively helped students seek jobs in the top firms of all sectors, some even bagging the highest package of Rs14 lakh. The cell has also helped students aiming for further studies get a chance to study in top universities like Harvard, Oxford and the like.

According to Bimal Patel, director, GNLU, "While most students choose law for the package offered, at GNLU this very perception changes. Students passing out from here get into various sectors such as PSUs, banks, judiciary, government departments, and corporate firms."

Patel explained that in corporate and law firms, the average package offered is above Rs8 lakh, with the highest package offered this year being Rs14 lakh. Coming to traditional firms, the package starts from Rs4 lakh and then increases depending on the individual's merit.

The three-member internship and placement cell has already helped place 35 students in top law firms of the country @ Rs14 lakh, Rs12 lakh and Rs8 lakh as pay packages. Currently 75 students are undergoing recruitment process with national and state PSUs, law firms, supreme court and corporate firms such as Adani, Reliance, Tata and more. Patel claims that 90% of these 75 students will definitely bag pre-placement offers.

This full-time internship and placement cell has been aggressively active for the past six months. Recruiters were approached by members of the cell as well as by Patel himself. Till now, 95 offers have been made including those from the apex court, Gujarat high court, Punjab & Haryana high court and Allahabad high court.

"To work with honorable judges and other senior advocates of both the Supreme Court and high courts is definitely a golden opportunity for GNLU students. Learning values and ethics from these senior advocates and judges, and from their seniors at law firms, is an opportunity students will never get again," Patel said.
