What do parents gain from the Internet?

Chitra Aiyer, founder, Zeeksha.com talks about how the Web is easing admission blues.

What made you start this website?
It started with us trying to get our kids admitted to school. Though we were reasonably clear on the (possible) schools, we wanted to get some background information about them in order to better educate ourselves. Quite surprisingly, we could not find any decent information out there; more importantly information from the "user community". Not so surprisingly, there were others who were looking for similar information. Hence a few of us got together and decided to launch Zeeksha — a place where you can get information about schools and share your thoughts and experiences in order to help others.

What role is the Internet playing in helping parents obtain authentic news and opinion about school admissions?
In the non-internet world, the only information that you can rely on is through word of mouth. Internet enables a large number of people to be able to share their experiences and points of view.

Do you authenticate information regarding schools and procedures on this website ?
While we do our best to verify information regarding schools, we are not in a position to guarantee it. So, we strongly encourage the parents to check with the school directly. We also encourage them to post their first hand information and experiences, which over time has provide to be a good source of information to supplement the information that the given out by schools.
