There were numerous tales of Mughal love. Shahjahan even built Mumtaz the Taj Mahal out of love.

Today, we'll tell you about a Mughal emperor who went to extraordinary lengths for a maid.

Jahangir, the Mughal emperor, was the one who fell in love with his maid.

Noorjahan's real name was Mehrunnisa. Noorjahan was a widow who eventually became a slave and resided in Jahangir's court.

Noorjahan's husband was named Sheikh Afghan. It is believed that Shahjahan had him murdered.

Jahangir believed that after her husband's death, Noorjahan would readily agree to the marriage.

But this did not happen; despite being a widow, Noorjahan refused to marry.

When Noorjahan declined to marry, Jahangir became concerned.

Jahangir, enraged, grabbed Noorjahan's hand in the courtroom.
