This Mughal emperor made his own son blind

Pavan Naidu

Mughal Emperor Jahangir, the fourth Mughal Emperor of India, had four sons, Khusrau Mirza, Parviz, Shahryar, and Shah Jahan.

Khusrau Mirza, the eldest son of Jahangir in 1606 rebelled against his own father to secure the throne for himself.

He left Agra and led a band of 350 horsemen under the pretext of visiting Akbar's tomb in nearby Sikandra. He was later joined by Hussain Beg.

Khusrau laid siege in Lahore. There he was met by Jahangir’s big army. In the fierce battle of Bhairowal, Emperor Jahangir triumphed over Khusrau, and thereafter, he had him imprisoned in Agra and was partially blinded.

In 1620, he was handed over to Prince Khurram, who was later known as Emperor Shah Jahan.

In 1622, Khusrau was killed on the orders of Prince Khurram.

Later, Shah Jahan succeeded Jahangir as the fifth Mughal Emperor.
