In India's past, in addition to the battles between Hindu kings and Mughal emperors, there were other political and social developments.

Among these were the marriages of Mughal princesses to Hindu kings.

Maharaja Amar Singh was the first Hindu king to marry a princess of the Mughal court. She was the daughter of Akbar and went by the name Khanum.

As part of a treaty, Akbar gave his approval for the marriage.

However, the marriage was never recorded in the historical accounts.

Maryam was Kunwar Jagat's second wife, and the daughter of Orissa's Afghan Nawab Qutul Khan.

Raja Chhatrasal also married the daughter of the Hyderabadi Nizam, Ruhani Bai.

These unions were a strategy employed by the Hindu kingdoms and the Mughals to maintain harmony and build alliances.
