Biggest upsets in T20 World Cup history

The T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to commence on June 2nd, with 20 teams vying for the coveted title. The teams have been divided into four groups, each consisting of five teams. 

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8s stage. Following the Super 8s, the top four teams will compete in the semi-finals.

India was the first team to win the World Cup in 2007. England emerged victorious in the most recent edition of the tournament.

Throughout the years, numerous significant upsets have occurred in T20 World Cups.

AUS vs ZIM - 2007

Zimbabwe's impressive performance limited Australia to a score of 138/8, and they later successfully chased down the target with five wickets remaining.

ENG vs NED - 2009

England scored 162 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. However, to their surprise, the Netherlands managed to secure a remarkable victory by defeating England with four wickets remaining.

NED vs ENG - 2014

The Netherlands team scored 133 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Subsequently, they successfully bowled out the England team for a paltry 88 runs.

AFG vs WI - 2016

Despite only scoring 123/7, Afghanistan managed to secure a surprising victory by six runs by limiting West Indies to 117/8.

NAM vs SL - 2022

Namibia achieved a score of 163/7 and subsequently dismissed Sri Lanka for a paltry 108.

ZIM vs PAK - 2022

Zimbabwe pulled off a stunning win over Pakistan as they clinched a thrilling 1-run win in their Super 12 match.
