Unique animals and birds found only in Mediterranean Basin

Lberian lynx: This exquisite animal species lives in the Mediterranean forests of southern Spain.

Barbary Leopard: The Barbary leopard is similar to the African leopard, but stockier and has a furier coat. 

Eurasian red squirrel: Red squirrels are common in Europe, but have massively decreased in other countries.

White-tailed eagle: Also known as the sea eagle, these birds have brown feathers apart from its bright white tail.

Barbary Macaque: The Barbary macaque, also known as the Barbary ape, resides in the Mediterranean forest. 

Mediterranean sperm whale: A sperm whale fluke in the Mediterranean Sea comprises only 200 individuals

European beaver: The European beaver is present across Western Europe, northern Europe, and the Baltic region. 

Grey wolf: Once the world’s most massively distributed mammal, the grey wolf is present in Europe, Asia, and North America.
