Upma: is a spicy, savoury porridge made with sooji (semolina) and flavoured with spices, nuts, and vegetables.

Appam: Made with a fermented rice and coconut milk batter, these delicate, lacy pancakes pair well with coconut milk stews or sweetened coconut milk.

Idli: Boiled rice and lentil batter are combined to make these steamed rice cakes, which are traditionally served with coconut chutney and sambar.

Rava Uttapam: Chopped vegetables are topped atop a thick, savoury pancake known as rava uttapam, which is made from yoghurt and semolina (sooji) batter.

Dosa: fermented rice and lentil batter combined to create a thin, crispy pancake. You can try it with or without the potato filling, or masala dosa.

Adai: This kind of dosa, which is made from a batter consisting of rice and mixed lentils, is usually served with a mixed vegetable curry called avial.

Semiya Upma: This is a version of upma made with spices, onions, and cooked vermicelli noodles.
