Engineers' Day in India is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, who was one of the foremost civil engineers in India in the 20th century.
Born on September 15, 1861, Visvesvaraya served as the Dewan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918 and was honoured with India's highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 1955.
