Asian Games 2018, Day 7: 1 gold, 3 bronze medals, India climb one place up to No. 8

India managed to add four more medals to their tally in the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta on Saturday.

While the three squash singles players, Dipika, Chinnapa and Saurav Ghoshal won a bronze each, shot putter Tejinderpal Singh ended India's day on a higher note by clinching his maiden Asian gold and India's overall seventh gold for this edition.

Athletics: Chethan Balasubramanya qualifies for High Jump final after clearing 2.15m.

Athletics: Muhammad Anas and Arokia Rajiv qualify for 400m semi-finals.

Badminton: Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu sail into the women's singles quarter-finals.

Badminton: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lose in the men's doubles Round of 16.

Medal - Squash: Dipika Pallikal loses her semi-final against top seed Nicol David in straight sets, settles for bronze.

Medal - Squash: Joshna Chinappa loses her semi-final as well, gets bronze.

Medal - Squash: After his women compatriots, Saurav Ghoshal also loses his semi-final match & settles for a bronze in the singles category.

While the three squash singles players, Dipika, Chinnapa and Saurav Ghoshal won a bronze each, shot putter Tejinderpal Singh ended India's day on a higher note by clinching his maiden Asian gold and India's overall seventh gold for this edition.

Iran’s Sohrab Moradi broke weightlifting’s longest standing world record. En route to gold in the men’s 94kg category. Moradi lifted 189 kg in the snatch to better the 188-kg record set in 1999 by Greece’s Akakios Kakiasvilis.

Earlier, Dipika Pallikal had lost her semi-final in straight games. Both she and Chinappa had the opportunity of becoming the first female squash players to win a gold or silver at the Asian Games.
