Procession in Pune on the occasion of Id-e-Milad

The Muslim community in Pune will celebrate Id-e-Milad, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, on Wednesday. The day is marked by decoration of mosques and distribution of sweets.

Moreover, a huge procession will be held in the city. It will start at 3 pm from Manusha mosque and will head towards Sant Kabir Chowk on Laxmi Road, going further through AD Camp Chowk — Pudumjee Chowk — Chudaman Talim Chowk — Qureshi Mosque — Babajan Chowk — Shivaji Market — Bhopala Chowk — MG Road — Mahavir Chowk — Sarbatwala Chowk — Sachapir Street — Quarter Gate — Nana Chowdi Chowk turning to Laxmi Road and ending at Jama Masjid (Shukrawar Peth).

More than one lakh people are expected to participate in the procession. “Over 80 trucks carrying people will be part of it,” said secretary of the Muslim Hilal Committee, Rafiuddin Shaikh.

General secretary of the Muslim Seerat Committee, Ustad Riaz Ahmed Khan, said, “Maulana Zamiruddin of the Southern Seerat Committee will be holding the sermon at Jama Masjid.”
