When asked about her collection, she says, “My collection  ‘Istanbul not Constantinople’ is an inspiration to celebrate Istanbul with its glorious heritage, splendid jewels of the Topkapi palace, the serenity to the Turkish devenishes, the intricately detailed Iznik tiles, the energy of the 14th century grand bazaar, and the history that engulfs you and takes you to different time zones the city has witnessed. It is a self-expression on Istanbul that I integrated in my collection.”

She states her collection is very much the resort summer wear perfect for Indian climate. “This is a 100 per cent summer resort collection, which has a day to evening complete look. I’ve designed summer dresses in trapeze and tent silhouettes, cocktail dresses in shift and sheath, contemporized caftans along with low fork trousers complete my collection. It is something on the lines of a bridal trousseau. My collection is just not clothes but pieces of art.”

She is known for her impeccable finish and setting innovative trends. So we asked what is special in her collection this time?
She says, “The strength of my collection is the Trompe L’oiel technique of embroidery that I have applied, to another level with realistic imagery creating optical illusions on 3D effects as seen predominantly in the works of artists during Renaissance period.”

The summer dresses are in trapeze and tent silhouettes, cocktail dresses in shift and sheath. Contemporized caftans along with low fork trousers complete the collection. The colours used are nudes and skin tones juxtaposed with deep colors of semi-precious stones. Ivory and mahogany complement as neutrals.

“I think this is the best time that we are introducing resort wear in India as more and more people buying resort properties and the  yachts. We are surely  ready to accept the resort wear in a big way besides our climatic conditions are very much what resort wear is meant for. Besides that, I feel fashion has no rules as long as it works for an individual,” she concludes.
