The Taj Mahal may be the world's most photographed monument, with people from all over the world who visit the monument leaving with a memorable picture of their visit.

The Taj Mahal is reportedly visited by over six million people annually. With almost everyone owning a smartphone or camera, it is easy to document and share the visit. The monument has also made it easier to do so with a wi-fi facility and the launch of its own twitter account.

Lonely Planet's "Ultimate Travelist" ranks the historic mausoleum built in Agra by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as the fifth most attractive travel hotspot in the world and describes it as a "magnificent Mughal masterpiece".

The monument has a unique backdrop which includes the Yamuna and as the sun rises in the east, it provides different contrasts, shades and colours to the Taj Mahal which faces the south, giving photographers a unique shot at different times in the day.
