The university has sold 1,250 forms for PhD and 600 forms for M Phil.

Even as the entrance examination for M Phil and PhD students of Gujarat University are scheduled to begin from Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, the students are yet to get details like examination centre.

The university has sold 1,250 forms for PhD and 600 forms for M Phil.

Executive member of Gujarat University Manish Doshi claimed that the university earned Rs14 lakh by sale of these forms.

“When you charge so much for forms the basic rule as per UGC guidelines is that students should have been given a photo receipt (a receipt which also has the photo of the student who is appearing for the exam),” said Doshi.

He alleged that the students have not received any such receipt which will enable them to confirm that they have paid for the form or get their seat number.  University officials however said that they have uploaded details of seating arrangements of students on the university website late on Monday night.

“With no photo receipt how will the  authorities ensure that a proxy candidate does not take the exams,” said Doshi. He said that even if the students checked the website not all of them will know the details of the classroom, examination centre etc.
