Veteran CPI(M) leader Jyoti Basu's condition would be monitored for another three to four days before a decision is taken on his release, hospital authorities said here today.
"A medical board during the day decided that Basu's condition would be monitored for another three to four days before a decision was taken on his discharge," said a medical officer of the private hospital where the 96-year-old Marxist patriarch was admitted after he lost consciousness on Sunday.
Basu is progressing well. His stomach problem was also less. A number of routine tests were carried out, the officer said, adding that the former West Bengal chief minister was on a normal diet.
Basu was moved out of the ICCU to a single room yesterday.
Prime minister Manmohan Singh had yesterday sent him a message from Paris, wishing a speedy recovery.
