Dhaka denies Islamabad claims on 26/11 attacks

Bangladesh high commissioner in Delhi Liaqat Ali Chowdhury said Islamabad has not forwarded information on the 26/11 probe to Dhaka.

India has not officially received a communication from Pakistan on the terror dossier forwarded to Islamabad, Union home minister P Chidambaram re-emphasised on Thursday.

“We will comment once we receive Pakistan’s reply,” a senior home official said.

There have been selective leaks to the Pakistan media about involvement of groups operating from Bangladesh, like the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami and a network of Muslim fundamentalists spread across the Gulf. Privately, Indian officials say, “This is in line with what we expected from Pakistan. The idea is to shift blame out of that country. ” Retired IB official Moloy K Dhar laughed when asked about the Bangladeshi outfit’s involvement. Retired RAW chief AS Dulat said rightist elements in Dubai could be involved. But first Islamabad must verify Ajmal's assertion that it originated in Pakistan.
