Women empowerment not reflected in action: Priyanka Chaturvedi's scathing resignation letter to Rahul Gandhi
Priyanka Chaturvedi explains the reason behind her quitting in a letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi.
Disappointed over the party's decision to reinstate men who misbehaved with her at a press conference in Mathura some time back, Congress national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi on Friday quit the party. Later in the day, Priyanka Chaturvedi joined Shiv Sena in presence of Uddhav Thackeray.
In a dramatic turn of events, she first left all the WhatsApp groups affiliated to the Congress where she was part of. Then she changed her Twitter bio and later shared a letter written to Congress President. Priyanka Chaturvedi in her letter said that many things culminated to make her take the decision of leaving the party.
Chaturvedi said that she feels not being valued, in an oblique reference to not being given ticket. However, the fact that those who misbehaved with her have been welcomed back to the party fold was the proverbial last straw. Priyanka Chaturvedi said that although the party promotes women empowerment, it is not followed by all members and sometimes rules are relaxed for sake of election.
