The 'Bling Ring' gang, who robbed millions in cash and jewellery from Hollywood stars, were planning to target the Beckhams, it has emerged.

It is suspected that the gang may have been eyeing Posh's exclusive handbag collection, worth nearly £2 million.

David's collection of luxury watches, including a diamond-encrusted Chopard - Posh's birthday gift to him - valued at over £20,000, could have also been prime targets for a burglary.

The Beckham's £1 million security system is also believed to have been too easy for the teen thieves to break through.

According to a LA detective, they are "the best cat burglars I've ever encountered".

Apart from David and Victoria, their list also included celebs like Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and Tom and Katie Cruise.

The revelation comes a string of arrests following thefts at the homes of Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan, The Hills actress Audrina Patridge and 'The OC' telly star Rachel Bilson, reports the Daily Star.

The 'Bling Ring' targeted celebs in a 15-mile area spanning from Beverly Hills to West Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills.

Police claim the 18-year-old Rachel Lee arrested in Las Vegas to be the mastermind.
