She added: “To clarify, I was never promised “millions”, nor do I expect it. I’m just clarifying common misconceptions about me, and in turn, about the industry. I was involved in porn so briefly, but my actions spread like wildfire, and I continue to be ranked (truly baffles me) 5 years after leaving the industry. This is why people think I still perform.”

She wrote on Twitter: “People think I’m racking in millions from porn. Completely untrue. I made a TOTAL of around $12,000 in the industry and never saw a penny again after that. Difficulty finding a normal job after quitting porn was... scary.”

Earlier, former pornstar Mia Khalifa, who is still one of the world’s most-watched adult actors, revealed that she quit the adult industry after threats from ISIS.

In an interview with former cyclist Lance Armstrong on his podcast the New Forward, she narrated how "it all started to spiral out of control when the death threats from ISIS started coming in. She said, "That's when I stepped away."

When asked what prompted her to join the industry, Khalifa said, "Looking back on it, I don’t know what I was thinking... I was 21 and dumb. As soon as I started to gain popularity, that’s when I was like, ‘Get the f--k out of this.’ This was not what I was trying to do whatsoever."

She added: "I just wanted to let loose and rebel a little bit. It didn’t validate me."

Currently, Khalifa works as a journalist hosting a sports show.

She was born in Beirut, Lebanon and moved to the United States of America when she was 10. In 2014, she became the number 1 porn star in the world according to Pornhub.com, and this despite being in the industry for a very short period of time. Her ranking kicked off quite a controversy and she was vehemently attacked on Twitter for her career. Her attackers even sent her some death threats including a photo-shopped image of her along with ISIS Jihadi John.
