Clean Bowled!!

The ball perfectly lands on a good length, threatening to angle in, forcing Faf du Plessis to play for it inside the line, only to find a crack and deviate away to knock out the top of off.

du Plessis b U Yadav 1(9)

And with a SIX Hamza has an Indian fifty -- courtesy Ashwin's flight that he takes on to get forward and loft away over long-on.

Jadeja and Shahbaz Nadeem both do wonders for India. In two overs, they send two Proteas players back.

Jadeja has knocked Zubayr Hamza over! A straighter delivery around middle and leg, it skids along the deck and Hamza got outfoxed due to the lack of bounce.

He was looking to punch it off the back foot, but the ball goes through him and takes down the leg stump.

Zubayr Hamza b Jadeja 62(79) [4s-10 6s-1]

As for Nadeem, he gets his maiden Test wicket.

Bavuma shimmies down the wicket to play this one, but the spinner drags back his length and extracts some sharp spin off the deck. Saha does well to grab it.

Although the batsman tries his best to drag his bat back inside the crease, he can hardly get anywhere close to it.

With two wickets in quick succession, the crowd in Ranchi has gone berserk.

Bavuma st W Saha b Nadeem 32(72) [4s-5]

Indian bowlers whose maiden wicket have been via stumpings:

WV Raman (C Walsh)

M Venkataramana (D Haynes)

Asish Kapoor (C Hooper)

Shahbaz Nadeem (T Bavuma)

Bowled!!

Jadeja usually wreaks havoc in the second innings of a match, but he's weaving his magic in the first one as well.

The off-stump goes for a toss and that brings an end to Klaasen's stay out in the middle.

Klaasen b Jadeja 6(10) [4s-1]

The Indian bowlers have been ripping through the Proteas batting line up.

Shami first sends D Piedt back for Lbw. Piedt doesn't review and walks off.

That was on a length, refuses to rise up and Piedt was caught on the back foot. Had to saunter down on to his haunches but even that wasn't enough. The moment he was hit on the pads, the bowler went up and the umpire obliged.

D Piedt lbw b Shami 4(14)

As for Ashwin, he does not get a wicket to his name but Rabada is sent back by Umesh Yadav that too after misfielding.

NEVER RUN ON A MISFIELD.

Umesh Yadav scores a direct hit from mid-off and sends Rabada back.

That was driven firmly to mid-off and Umesh fumbled, George Linde called for a single and Rabada was slightly late to react. That extra few seconds cost him.

Rabada run out (U Yadav) 0(6)

Umesh Yadav manages to find the edge.

Full and outside off, Linde is sucked into the expansive drive and he goes hard.

The ball tails away a bit and that is enough to take the outside edge, flies low to widish second slip and Rohit snaffles it neatly.

George Linde c Rohit b U Yadav 37(81) [4s-3 6s-1]

Only an inside edge could have saved Nortje but he was struck plumb in front.

The slider which skids on, Nortje presses forward and is beaten by the in-drift, the ball strikes him in front of middle and ball-tracking shows it to be going on to crash into leg-stump.

Anrich Nortje lbw b Nadeem 4(55)

The off stump does a long jump!

Umesh starts with a WICKET.

Kept this on a good length around middle and off, de Kock's footwork went nowhere and ended up playing down the wrong line in defence.

de Kock b U Yadav 5(6) [4s-1]

Bowled by Shami!!

This was the fullish in-angler on off stump, drawing Hamza forward to push at it and the ball just held its line ever so slightly to beat the outside edge, thereby nipping the top of off stump.

Zubayr Hamza b Shami 0(6)

Shami is trying to finish the Proteas innings today itself. First, he sent Faf and now Temba Bavuma.

For Faf, he went wide of the crease on two occasions. Faf gets pinned on the crease and is late to react as this straightens off the deck just a fraction to rap him on the back pad.

The lower bounce didn't help either and it looked stone dead in real-time. The umpire wasted no time in raising his finger but Faf, perhaps in desperation, went for the review.

However, the review goes in favour of India and SA are now falling apart once again.

du Plessis lbw b Shami 4(10)

For Bavuma, he was edged and taken!

Shami gets closer to the sticks on this occasion to deliver the near-accurate out-seamer just around off stump, Bavuma isn't tight enough as he pokes at this tentatively.

Bavuma c W Saha b Shami 0(3)

Dean Elgar struck on the helmet by a nasty bouncer by Umesh! They've taken Tea early.

Elgar was seen sitting beside the pitch for a few minutes before he picked himself up and walked off.

George Linde comes out to bat.

The umpire raises the finger straight away after Klaasen is trapped on the crease.

Seams back in from a back of a length at 137.5km/h, and makes Klaasen jack-knife.

He misses the ball with the bat coming down late and he's struck in front.

Klaasen lbw b U Yadav 5(24)

Wriddhiman Saha has been replaced by Rishabh Pant who has taken a blow on the end of the gloves.

The new rule allows a team to replace a 'keeper with another 'keeper which was not possible before and hence Pant will be the stand-in for Saha.

Absolutely needless from Linde and Piedt.

The quicker delivery that is squirted off the inner portion to backward square, Linde took a start and Piedt responded, but the former stopped and that was the problem.

Nadeem swooped down and fired an accurate throw at the bowler's end.

Linde was well short of the crease.

George Linde run out (Nadeem) 27(55) [4s-5]

Piedt goes for a wild hoick across the line. He is a lower order batter doesn't care and not surprisingly, misses it completely.

The leg pole is taken out.

D Piedt b Jadeja 23(73) [4s-2 6s-1]

Rabada's tom-and-jerry game with Ashwin comes to an end.

Went for the wild slog across the line, ripping off the break. Ends up slicing it high in the air.

Jadeja pouches this with glee at backward point.

Rabada c Jadeja b Ashwin 12(16) [4s-3]

STUMPS!!!

Darkness sets in and the umpires pull out the bails. India's pacers did the most damage, having already tallied 10 scalps out of the 18 that have fallen.

The last time South African lost more than 15 wickets in a day, they lost by an innings and 360 runs to Australia after following on in Johannesburg, 2001/02. They lost 16 wickets on that fateful day.

India need just two wickets to complete their first-ever clean sweep in Test cricket over South Africa.
