A husband-wife duo ended up creating an energy source company worth over Rs 200 crore, which was backed by the company’s biggest fan – Ratan Tata.

Husband-wife duo Chetan Walunj and Aditi Bhosale Walunj created the innovative startup company Repos Energy, a Pune-based firm which allows online payment and other formats to aid door-to-door fuel delivery across 65 Indian cities.
The idea for Repos Energy came with the very common concept of an arranged marriage when Aditi’s parents asked her to look for a groom. While reluctant to settle down, Aditi and Chetan connected and got married.
Aditi let go of her dream to go for the highest studies in the United States after her marriage to mechanical engineer Chetan, but the two found one common interest – the aim to open their own startup company together.
Repos Energy started with the idea of supplying petrol to the doorstep of consumers and companies, and they had the same margin as petrol pumps (Rs 2.2 per litre). In the initial days, their profit margin through the company was just Rs 70,000 per month.
However, their unique business model and idea attracted the eye of Ratan Tata, former Tata Sons chairman and investor. Charmed by their use of technology and energy sources, Ratan Tata ended up investing in the firm, which soon saw skyrocketing growth.
From making just Rs 70,000 per month through their business, Aditi and Chetan ended up earning Rs 2.2 crore per month through their startup Repos Energy. The couple eventually saw a turnover of over Rs 65 crore in the last financial year.
Today, Repos Energy is worth over Rs 200 crore, and the Ratan Tata-backed firm has signed projects with major companies such as Larsen & Toubro, Tata Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Schindler, JW Marriott hotel, Phoenix Mall, The Westin Hotel, and General Electrical.
