7th pay commission: While many central government employees wait for the pay hike under seventh pay commission. The Uttar Pradesh Government gives a reason to cheer to state's teachers. As a gift on the occasion of Teachers' Day, Yogi Adityanath government has decided to give 7th pay commission pay scale to teachers and professors of state colleges and universities.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the implementation of the seventh pay scale at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by him Tuesday.
The decision was taken in the light of revision of pay scales of Central Government employees on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
According to an official spokesman, the government will bear financial burden of Rs 921.54 crore for this hike and the state will bear 50 per cent of the burden. The new pay scale to the state and related cadre teachers will come into force from January 1, 2016.
It will cover 18 state varsities, which also includes one law university, one deemed and an open university. The spokesman said the registrar, financial officer, controller of examination, pro VC and VC will not be covered under this.
Meanwhile, with the announcement of two per cent hike in dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners under the seventh pay commission. While the move will benefit around 50 lakh employees, teachers under 7th CPC in Jammu and Kashmir are still protesting over implementation of the benefits of seventh pay commission.
According to local media, teachers protest continued for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday in Srinagar outside Press Enclave over their demand to release the Seventh Pay Commission. Led by provisional president Rahi Irshad, the protesting teachers claimed that the struggle will continue till their demand for 7th Pay Commission benefits are met. Reportedly, the ReT teachers will celebrate Teachers’ Day as black day across Jammu and Kashmir.
The teachers protesting gained momentum after the announcement of DA increased by 2% for central government employees and pensioners.
