Train 18: After the negative feedback over the Vande Bharat Express' ticket prices, Indian Railways has now revised the prices. Citing Railway order, PTI reported that the new fare has been reduced to Rs 1760 from Rs 1850 for chair car, Rs 3310 from Rs 3520 for executive car.
Earlier, an official told PTI that the Vande Bharat Express or Train 18, will cost passengers Rs 1,850 in the chair car class while it will be Rs 3,520 in the executive class, including the catering charges. He further told that on the return journey, the chair car (CC) ticket will cost Rs 1,795 and the executive class (EC) ticket will be priced at Rs 3,470.
Further sources told PTI earlier that while the chair car fares are 1.5 times the base price of Shatabdi trains running the same distance, the executive class fares are 1.4 times that of the base fare of first class air conditioned seating in the premium train.
Earlier, PTI has also reported that meals on board the soon-to-be-launched Vande Bharat Express or Train 18 will not be optional for passengers unlike in premium trains such as Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Duronto express, where travellers can choose not to take catering services.
