Renamed as Vande Bharat Express, the train would complete distance of 795 km in 8 hours
There is good news for Mumbai train travellers as the second Train 18, which has been named as Vande Bharat Express will run till Mumbai. On Saturday Union Railway minister Piyush Goyal informed DNA about the same. This comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag-off India's fastest engine-less semi-high speed train on February 15.
"We are already in process of manufacturing more Train 18s. It will surely start from Mumbai soon," confirmed Piyush Goyal to DNA after his press conference Saturday evening. He spoke to media after the party launched 'Bharat ke mann ki baat, Modi ke saath', a month long drive to seek people's suggestions for preparing their manifesto. People can hope for ride on Mumbai-Delhi route on a Train 18 soon. As per plans, Train 18 is set to replace Shatabdi Express. The Vande Bharat Express, which can run at speed upto 180 kmph, will make its debut on Delhi-Varanasi route. Senior railway official said, "We are in process of finalising newer routes for Train 18."
From Varanasi to New Delhi, the passengers will be charged Rs 349 and Rs 288 in the executive class and chair, respectively. They will be served evening tea with snacks and dinner. The fares would be over 40 per cent higher than that of Shatabdi Express.
This train would complete the distance of 795 km in eight hours which is way faster than existing trains. This train will have amenities like high-speed on-board WiFi, GPS-based passenger information system, touch-free bio-vacuum toilets, LED lighting, mobile charging points and a temperature control system. It will have two executive compartments having 52 seats each and trailer coaches with 78 seats each.
