A 33-year-old man, who cheated unemployed girls by collecting money to arrange jobs for them, has been arrested by the central crime branch (CCB) police.
Ravindra B Shetty, a resident of Mutyalanagar in Mattikere who was arrested on Monday, posed as human resources manager of Metro store in Yeshwantpur and cheated unemployed girls to the tune of over Rs10 lakh.
He collected the telephone number of girls who advertised in the weekly magazine Free Ads and interviewed the victims over phone. He used to send fake appointment letters to the girls and asked them to transfer money for security deposit to his account. After duping the unemployed girls, he used to change his mobile phone number.
The accused had more than 10 mobile phone numbers.
Cases were registered against Shetty in Kamakshipalya, Basaveshwaranagar and other police stations. City police commissioner had transferred the cases to CCB police. The special investigation squad of CCB collected information about Shetty and arrested him on Monday.
People who might have been victimised by Shetty have been requested to contact CCB police.
