Taj Mahal, one of the most iconic landmarks in India, has a fascinating history.

It was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away during childbirth.

The land on which the Taj Mahal stands was indeed owned by a Hindu king, Maharaja Jai Singh,(Kachhwaha Rajput) who ruled the region of Agra before the Mughals.

Shah Jahan negotiated with Maharaja Jai Singh to acquire the land needed for the construction of the Taj Mahal.

Shah Jahan promised Jai Singh four lovely homes elsewhere.

Taj Mahal involved a vast array of skilled artisans, craftsmen, and laborers.

Taj Mahal is primarily constructed from white marble

Today, it stands as a reminder of their enduring love and the beauty of Mughal craftsmanship.
