In 2009, the Rajasthan Royals, the inaugural champions of the IPL, faced off against the Kolkata Knight Riders in match 53 of the competition at Kingsmead in Durban. The match began with a dismal start for KKR as they leaked 22 runs off the first over of the contest.

Varun Aaron (RR) | 23 runs

On April 30, 2019, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the opening duo of AB de Villiers and skipper Virat Kohli were determined to make an impact as they worked together to score 23 runs in the first over. 

Shivam Mavi (KKR) | 25 runs

During a match between KKR and DC in 2021, Shivam Mavi had a disastrous over that will go down in the history of the league. It all started with a wide on the first ball, and then young Shaw took advantage of the situation by hitting six consecutive boundaries (including a wide) to score a whopping 25 runs off the over.
