Humanity is not dead yet, and it is situations like these that keep instilling hope that some goodness is still left in the human heart. Six inmates broke out of their holding area in the Districts Courts building, in Weatherford, Texas, when they saw that the police officer guarding them started to slump in his chair, in what seemed to be a heart attack.
Initially, one of the inmates stood up on taking notice of the ailing officer and started shouting for help, but they had to leave their cell to tend to the man.
The footage was sent to BuzzFeed News by the Parker County Sheriff's office. Parker County Sheriff Sgt Ryan Speegle told the local ABC News affiliate WFAA 8, that he did not know what to expect when he entered the room with some guards and saw the inmates stooping over the officer.
The inmates were quickly ushered in and the medical assistance arrived to perform CPR and revive the officer, who was eventually taken to medical safety by the paramedics. The officer has not been identified, but the reports stated that he was expected to join office from the coming week. Nick Kelton, one of the convicts, said he did not think twice before helping him. "He's a good man," he told WFAA 8.
