Animal activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and Ogilvy & Mather Advertising ,Bangkok teamed up to produce the gory (quite literally!) truth behind the exotic leather industry.
According to the video shared by the official page of PETA, the group set up a pop-up shop in Bangkok for leather handbags, ties, shoes and other leather accessories.
Although the products looked magnificent and pricey, it was not the price tag that gave the buyers a shock. Each of those products had artificial animal tissue, flesh and body parts simulated to look like that of living animals to whom the skin used for the leather belonged.
Imagine checking a crocodile leather jacket out and seeing a beating heart when you open it!
The advertisement is slightly gory and may seem a little extreme but, come to think of it, so is the exotic leather industry.
