‘Les Miserables’ is a true story on police violence in suburbs of Paris Alexis Manenti

Director Ladj Ly beat all the records after his debut feature film ‘Les Miserables’ won jury prize at ‘Cannes 2019’ and also got nomination in Oscars. The movie is inspired by the 2005 French riots and police violence in the suburbs of Paris. Speaking about his film ‘Les Miserables’, actor Alexis Manenti said, “The movie is directed by Ladj Ly. It’s our first movie and it is about police violence in the suburbs of Paris.” He further spoke on the inspiration behind the film. Manenti said, “The director, actually made a lot of documentary and he is neighborhood is police so one day shot police violence and he gave it to the TV so, it was a big scandal and the police were sentenced after it and this movie is about his life in the suburbs he saw. It is very true and a true story.”
